What causes the Counter reformation?? In simple English easy to understand??

The Counter Reformation was caused by the Catholic Church's response to the Protestant Reformation. The Church wanted to stop the spread of Protestant ideas and bring people back to the Catholic faith. They made changes within the Church, such as creating new religious orders and holding the Council of Trent, to address the issues raised by the Protestants.
