Objective: Students will reflect on their learning experiences in the culture and heritage unit, identify successes and reasons for those successes, as well as challenges and reasons for those challenges.

Materials needed: Paper, pens, markers

Warm-up (5 minutes):
- Begin the lesson by asking students to take a few minutes to reflect on what they have learned in the culture and heritage unit. Encourage them to think about the topics covered, activities completed, and any new insights gained.

Discussion (10 minutes):
- Lead a class discussion on the importance of self-reflection in the learning process. Discuss how reflecting on their experiences can help students identify areas of strength and areas for improvement.

Activity (15 minutes):
- Ask students to write down three successes they have had in the culture and heritage unit, along with the reasons for those successes. Encourage them to be specific and provide examples.
- Next, ask students to write down three challenges they have faced in the unit, along with the reasons for those challenges. Again, encourage them to be specific and provide examples.

Group sharing (10 minutes):
- Divide students into small groups and have them share their successes and challenges with their group members. Encourage students to listen actively and offer support and feedback to their peers.

Reflection (10 minutes):
- Ask students to reflect on the group sharing activity and consider how hearing about their classmates' experiences has impacted their own understanding of the unit. Have students write down any new insights or perspectives they have gained.

Closing (5 minutes):
- Wrap up the lesson by discussing the importance of self-reflection in the learning process. Encourage students to continue reflecting on their experiences in future units and courses.

Homework:
- For homework, ask students to write a brief reflection on their overall learning experience in the culture and heritage unit. Have them consider what they have learned, how they have grown, and what they would like to improve upon in the future.

Procedure:

Part 1: Guided Reflection

1. (5 minutes) Begin by reviewing the lesson objectives and reminding students of the activities they participated in.
2. (10 minutes) Distribute self-reflection worksheets to students. Go through each section of the worksheet as a class, explaining the purpose and how students should complete it.

Part 2: Independent Reflection

1. (20 minutes) Allow students time to complete the self-reflection worksheet independently. Instruct them to be thorough and specific in their responses.
2. (5 minutes) Circulate among students to answer any questions or provide support as needed.

Part 3: Class Discussion

1. (10 minutes) Divide the class into small groups of 3-4 students.
2. (15 minutes) Ask groups to discuss their successes and challenges and the reasons behind them. Encourage them to consider both their own experiences and the experiences of others in their group.
3. (10 minutes) As a whole class, share the main successes and challenges identified by each group and facilitate a discussion on the reasons behind them.

Assessment:

Differentiation:
