1) Tanzania Land Information System (TALIS):
i) Components: TALIS consists of various components such as land records, cadastral maps, land use information, land tenure data, and spatial data infrastructure.
ii) Main function: The main function of TALIS is to provide a centralized platform for storing, managing, and analyzing land-related information. It helps in land administration, land use planning, land tenure regularization, and decision-making processes related to land management.
iii) Availability/accessibility: TALIS is accessible to government agencies, land surveyors, researchers, and the general public through online portals and physical offices. However, the accessibility may vary depending on the level of technology infrastructure and internet connectivity in different regions of Tanzania.
iv) Data input: Data for TALIS is collected through field surveys, satellite imagery, aerial photography, and digitization of existing land records. The data is then inputted into the system using Geographic Information System (GIS) software and other data management tools.
2) Tanzania National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI):
i) Components: NSDI includes geospatial data, metadata, standards, policies, and technologies for sharing and accessing spatial information across different government agencies and organizations.
ii) Main function: The main function of NSDI is to facilitate the sharing and integration of spatial data for decision-making, planning, and development purposes. It aims to improve coordination, collaboration, and efficiency in the use of geospatial information.
iii) Availability/accessibility: NSDI is available to government agencies, private sector organizations, academia, and the public through online portals, data clearinghouses, and data sharing agreements. The accessibility of NSDI may vary depending on the level of awareness and capacity building among potential users.
iv) Data input: Data for NSDI is collected from various sources such as government agencies, research institutions, private sector organizations, and international partners. The data is standardized, cataloged, and made available in a common format for easy sharing and integration within the NSDI framework.
