Proposal for Creating Wardrobes in the Dormitories at Shalom Center
Introduction
Shalom Center is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services to homeless and low-income families in our community. Our mission is to empower families to achieve self-sufficiency and stability through a holistic approach that includes housing, case management, education, and employment support.
As part of our efforts to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our clients, we are proposing to install wardrobes in the dormitories for children and mothers. Currently, our clients are forced to store their belongings in plastic bins or on the floor, which is both unsightly and unsanitary. Wardrobes would provide a much-needed solution to this problem, giving our clients a sense of privacy, dignity, and order.
Project Description
The proposed project would involve the purchase and installation of 30 wardrobes, 15 for the children's dormitory and 15 for the mothers' dormitory. Each wardrobe would be made of high-quality materials, such as laminate or wood, and would be designed to withstand the rigors of daily use. The wardrobes would have ample storage space, including shelves, drawers, and hanging rods.
In addition to the purchase and installation of the wardrobes, the project would also include the following:
- Painting the dormitories in a fresh, inviting color
- Installing new flooring
- Purchasing new bedding and linens
- Providing each client with a personal storage bin
Project Benefits
Creating wardrobes in the dormitories at Shalom Center would provide numerous benefits for our clients, including:
- Improved privacy and dignity: Wardrobes would give our clients a private space to store their belongings, which would help them maintain their sense of identity and self-respect.
- Enhanced sanitation and hygiene: Keeping belongings off the floor would reduce the risk of dust mites, mold, and other allergens, which can exacerbate health problems for our clients.
- Increased comfort and order: Wardrobes would help our clients organize their belongings and create a more comfortable and inviting living space.
- Empowerment and self-sufficiency: By providing our clients with a safe and dignified place to store their belongings, we are helping them to take control of their lives and achieve self-sufficiency.
Project Budget
The total estimated cost of the project is $15,000. This includes the following expenses:
- Purchase and installation of wardrobes: $10,000
- Painting and flooring: $2,000
- Bedding and linens: $1,000
- Storage bins: $1,000
- Administrative costs: $1,000
