Why were only Africans enslaved?

Africans were not the only group of people who were enslaved throughout history, but they were disproportionately targeted for enslavement during the transatlantic slave trade due to a combination of factors.

One major factor was the demand for labor in the Americas, particularly in the Caribbean and the southern colonies of North America, where European colonizers needed a large workforce to cultivate cash crops such as sugar, tobacco, and cotton. Furthermore, the dehumanization and racialization of Africans by European colonizers played a significant role in justifying their enslavement. The belief in the inherent inferiority of Africans and their supposed suitability for servitude based on their race helped to perpetuate the system of chattel slavery that lasted for centuries.
