Who were teachers of the law?

The teachers of the law were a group of religious scholars and experts in Jewish law and tradition during the time of Jesus in ancient Israel. They were also known as scribes or Pharisees and were responsible for interpreting and teaching the laws of the Torah to the Jewish people.
