There are several women named Elizabeth in the Bible, but the most well-known is Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. She was married to Zechariah, a priest, and they were both righteous and devout followers of God. Elizabeth was barren and advanced in years, but miraculously conceived and gave birth to John the Baptist, who would go on to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. Elizabeth is also known for her faith and joy upon being visited by Mary, the mother of Jesus, who was pregnant with the Messiah.
