Who is the father of geography and where does he come from?
Eratosthenes of Cyrene is widely regarded as the Father of Geography and he is the first person to have used the word Geography (Geographika). He was a mathematician and astronomer from the ancient Greece.
On the other hand, Carl Ritter (1779–1859) is considered the father of modern geography. He was a German geographer and he occupied the first chair of geography at Berlin University. Along with Alexander von Humboldt, he is considered one of the founders of modern geography.
