Inverse care refers to the phenomenon where individuals who are in greater need of healthcare services have less access to them, while those who are in lesser need have greater access. In other words, it describes a situation where the availability of healthcare services is not distributed according to the level of need. This concept was first introduced by Julian Tudor Hart, a British general practitioner, in 1971. Inverse care can occur due to various factors such as socioeconomic disparities, geographic location, and systemic inequalities within healthcare systems.
