What is a relation?

A relation is a connection or association between two or more things. In mathematics, a relation is a set of ordered pairs that relate elements from one set to elements in another set. Relations can be represented in various ways, such as tables, graphs, or equations. Relations can be classified as functions or non-functions based on whether each element in the domain is related to exactly one element in the codomain.

A relation is a set of ordered pairs. Each ordered pair consists of two elements, called the domain and the range. The domain is the set of all first elements in the ordered pairs, and the range is the set of all second elements in the ordered pairs.

For example, the relation {(1, 2), (3, 4), (5, 6)} is a set of three ordered pairs. The domain is {1, 3, 5}, and the range is {2, 4, 6}.
