What causes heart water?

Heart water, also known as hydropericardium syndrome, is a condition that affects poultry and is caused by a specific strain of the infectious bronchitis virus. This virus infects the heart and surrounding tissues, leading to the accumulation of fluid in the pericardial sac (the membrane surrounding the heart). This can result in symptoms such as difficulty breathing, lethargy, and sudden death in affected birds.
