What are the parts of the primitive gut tube?

The primitive gut tube consists of three main parts:

1. Foregut: This is the anterior portion of the primitive gut tube and gives rise to the pharynx, esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the duodenum.

2. Midgut: This is the middle portion of the primitive gut tube and gives rise to the rest of the small intestine (from the second part of the duodenum to the proximal two-thirds of the transverse colon).

3. Hindgut: This is the posterior portion of the primitive gut tube and gives rise to the distal one-third of the transverse colon, the descending colon, the sigmoid colon, and the rectum.

- Foregut: oesophagus, stomach and duodenum
- Midgut: small intestine, except duodenum
- Hindgut: large intestine, rectum and anus
