Treatment of Gonorrhea
Uncomplicated Gonorrhea
- Injectable - Ceftriaxone 125 mg IM single dose - Azithromycin 2 g PO single dose - Oral - Cefixime 400 mg PO single dose - Doxycycline 100 mg PO bid for 7 days
Complicated Gonorrhea
- Injectable - Ceftriaxone 1 g IM every 24 hours for 3-5 days - Oral - Azithromycin 500 mg PO once daily for 3-5 days
Partner Management
- All sexual partners within the last 2 months should be notified, tested, and treated, even if asymptomatic. - Abstinence is recommended until both partners have been treated and are confirmed to be cured.
