1. Ear canal: This is the tube that leads from the outer ear to the middle ear. It is responsible for transmitting sound waves from the eardrum to the ossicles.
2. Tympanic membrane (eardrum): This is the thin membrane that separates the outer ear from the middle ear. It vibrates when sound waves hit it, and these vibrations are then transmitted to the ossicles.
3. Ossicles: These are the three small bones in the middle ear. They are called the malleus, incus, and stapes. They amplify the vibrations of the eardrum and transmit them to the inner ear.
4. Cochlea: This is the spiral-shaped structure in the inner ear. It contains the hair cells that convert sound waves into electrical signals.
5. Vestibular system: This is the part of the inner ear that is responsible for balance. It contains the semicircular canals and the otolith organs.
