The peritoneum is a thin, serous membrane that lines the abdominal cavity and covers most of the abdominal organs. The organs found in the peritoneum include:
1. Stomach 2. Liver 3. Gallbladder 4. Spleen 5. Small intestine (including the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) 6. Large intestine (including the cecum, appendix, colon, and rectum) 7. Pancreas 8. Kidneys (although they are retroperitoneal, their anterior surface is covered by peritoneum) 9. Uterus (in females) 10. Ovaries (in females) 11. Fallopian tubes (in females) 12. Urinary bladder
These are some of the major organs found in the peritoneum, but there are also blood vessels, lymph nodes, and other structures that are enveloped by the peritoneal membrane.
