Oceanic Zones
1. Epipelagic Zone (Sunlight Zone)
- Depth: Surface to 200 meters (650 feet)
- Sunlight penetrates, allowing photosynthesis
- Abundant marine life, including phytoplankton, zooplankton, fish, and seabirds
2. Mesopelagic Zone (Twilight Zone)
- Depth: 200 to 1,000 meters (650 to 3,280 feet)
- Limited sunlight, with bioluminescence becoming prominent
- Home to deep-sea fish, squid, and bioluminescent organisms
3. Bathypelagic Zone (Midnight Zone)
- Depth: 1,000 to 4,000 meters (3,280 to 13,120 feet)
- No sunlight, with extreme pressure and cold
- Inhabited by deep-sea fish, jellyfish, and other adapted organisms
4. Abyssopelagic Zone (Abyssal Zone)
- Depth: 4,000 to 6,000 meters (13,120 to 19,680 feet)
- Deepest part of the ocean, with extreme pressure and cold
- Home to deep-sea fish, sea urchins, and other specialized organisms
5. Hadalpelagic Zone (Trench Zone)
- Depth: Below 6,000 meters (19,680 feet)
- Found in deep-sea trenches, with extreme pressure and darkness
- Rare and highly specialized organisms, including sea cucumbers and crustaceans
