To do justice to this task, you must research, understand and present the basic requirements for your subject discipline and the workplace towards which it leads. For example, if you lecture Accounting, which values do you need to instill in your students if they are to succeed one day as accountants?
We presented ideas from four sources:
The STADIO value statement,
Two local academics’ value statement,
A DHET value statement, and
A range of value statements proposed by a UK academic in the form of character development. A study of these should provide you with a clear landscape from which to select those values/characteristics you may want to embrace.
The assessors require:
insight into the requirements of your subject discipline and the workplace towards which you are teaching,
the most important values from the four sources above you will try to instill in your students, and
how you would ensure that you successfully inculcate these values.
