Form of government in Rwanda

Rwanda is a unitary dominant-party presidential republic. The President of Rwanda serves as both the head of state and head of government, and is elected by popular vote for a seven-year term. The government is led by the ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) party, which has been in power since the end of the Rwandan Genocide in 1994. The country has a bicameral parliament, consisting of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, which are responsible for making laws and overseeing the government.
