Define tonsillitis?

Tonsillitis is an inflammation or infection of the tonsils, which are two small masses of tissue located at the back of the throat. It is commonly caused by a viral or bacterial infection and can result in symptoms such as sore throat, difficulty swallowing, swollen tonsils, fever, and enlarged lymph nodes. Tonsillitis is most common in children and can be treated with rest, fluids, pain relievers, and in some cases, antibiotics.
